Omlette gone crazy

This morning I was not in the mood for my normal oatmeal or all bran flakes. I decided to make an omlette and I wanted something really hearty.

I cut up some red peppers, egg plant, a baby marrow and spinach. The quantities are really up to you but I used just enough to ease my morning hunger.

I cooked it in about a tablespoon of canola oil, added some salt, pepper and a teaspoon chilli powder.

After about three minutes I added a little water just to soften the vegetables a bit.

I used one whole egg and one egg white for my base. You really do not need the other egg yolk. It will just add unnecessary calories and nobody needs that.

For this one I brought out my tawa but you can ofcourse use a normal non stick pan. Spray it with some cooking oil spray ( I used an olive oil spray ).

Whisk your egg together with a pinch of salt and let it roll in the pan.

Now leave it for about three minutes on medium heat and it should be nice and cooked through.

I then added some cottage cheese right on the omlette and added my veggies.

Flip that baby over and let it moonwalk in your tongue.

The calories for all this was under 400 calories and filled me up until lunchtime.

I hope you try it and you can ofcourse use any vegetables you have left over in your freezer for this recipe. Get creative.

Whose a workout queen.

During the past year I have gained an extra 10 kilos. It is amazing how this weight creeps up on you without you even realising it.

I remember feeling totally sexy and beautiful the one moment and then I walked past a mirror on day and I was like "hell no"!. I know there is nothing wrong with being voluptuous but my body although curvy, will always tell the truth. There is a difference between being voluptuous and over weight so believe me when I say that I am the latter.

Working out is difficult when you have small kids but it is not impossible.  You just have to be willing to make some sacrifices when changing your life.

I dug up my sports bra, my sneakers and blew some dust off my elliptical trainer.

Getting up even earlier than what I do already is definitely a challenge but I really want to take control back over my body.

Do not be freaked out by the feeling of death on day one of exercising.  You will eventually get stronger and it will become as second nature as brushing your teeth.

The only problem I have with loosing weight is my love for food and it is perhaps because I love to cook as well.

It is just going to have to be a balance without overwhelming my mind and my body.

G.I. Lean Review

Always being impatient, I looked around for a way to spead up my weight loss.

On the shelf which lit up before my eyes like in the adverts stood this pack of four bottles of pills.

It was (let me shock you) G.I. Lean and it looked promising. I mean who gives you four bottles of pills for the price of one.

I could not wait to get home and swallow those babies and I was hoping it would melt off those kilos in a snap.

First I took these detox ones which I'm not sure if it did anything(how do you really know if you are detoxing?). However I took their word for it and believed I was detoxing away.

Next came the 10 days intense weight loss ones. Now doesnt that sound just like a bar one chocolate? The thing is a bar one chocolate would have done the same as these pills. It feels nice having it but does nothing after.

Now I am at the stage of the "morning kickstart" and "feel full night fibre". Now the morning pill does nothing infact it makes me want to eat more. Don't even get me started on the night pill. So you have to swallow this thing with two glasses of water and the pill expands in your stomach making you feel full. Well you know what? Ofcourse you are going to feel full, you just drank two big glasses of water.

Honestly this was a waste of money and time and I would be better off throwing it in the bin but I hate wasting money. It's ironic I know.

This ofcourse is just my experience and my opinion. You are free to try this and be disappointed all on your own.

Hearty Healthy Lamb Chops

I have realised that I am not that much of a sweet tooth excluding the time little miss red robot visits ofcourse then I am a sweet machine.

Anyway, moving on. So what I really like is hearty healthy food and if it isnt healthy I might consider placing it into the forbidden but dying to have box.

One of my favourite hearty meals is something I was introduced too when I met my husband. It's a Indian dish and its totally delicious. You can take my word for it.

I have included some pics showing the steps of how it is prepared so if my writing does not make sense to you please feel free to figure out the pics.

Basically I sautéed (thats the right word I hope) a onion in a tablespoon of oil.

When the onion starts to brown I put 2 tablespoons of curry powder.

After 30 seconds (31 seconds and you've ruined a potentially good dish)  put your chops in the pot. Ive used about 400grms of lamb chops. Cut off most of the fat to save your body from explosion.

Add about 1 tablespoon of ginger and garlic paste (it's a mixture) as well as a tablespoon garlic paste (this is not a mixture).

Let the chops fry nicely till almost cooked through and throw in like a ton of tomatoes (6 should be enough though).

Add just 1 teaspoon of sugar for a kick or for a sweeter taste. Whatever you need on that day.

You will see after about 30 minutes on medium heat a lovely thick gravy will magically appear in your pot and it's really something special, I think.

Let it cook until that magical gravy is about half the amount and voila (I'm not Italian) you have completed a very successful and yummy dish.

Its delicious and usually is served with Indian flatbread or rice but for the health guru that I hope to become I had it with yummy vegtebles.

Now I have to go hang up some washing so happy cooking.

I'm such a breakfast nerd

I love breakfast and actually look forward to it at night.  Going to sleep is so much fun just knowing I will be waking up to a yummy breakfast.

Ok that might have been a tad bit overly dramatic but I do love me some yummy breakfast.

Being on this healthy venture as off late I have been trying new things.

A converted bread addict I came across these Finn crisps which are really low in calories and for me makes a good substitute to my two slices of morning toast.

I have them with some of nature's butter (avocado) and either egg whites or one scrambled egg and I have to say yummers!

You should try it and besides a packet of Finn crisps does not go stale as quickly as a loaf of bread.  Yeah I don't know why I said that but it popped into my head so there you go.

Anyway its time for me to do a load of washing now so happy days are here.
